The first two therapy sessions are intake appointments in which information is gathered about each client’s presenting concerns, family history, and treatment goals. At the end of intake, clients and I will work together to develop a treatment plan that is tailored to meet their individual needs. The course of treatment, including session length, frequency of appointments, duration of care, and therapeutic approach will vary depending on each client’s personal needs and interests.
An approach to therapy that focuses on the connections between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Through the use of CBT, clients will learn to identify problematic thoughts and understand how these thoughts have been contributing to certain feelings and behaviors. Clients will also learn a variety of coping skills that can be used to make these connections and develop healthier behavior patterns.
An approach to therapy that steers away from the notion that people need to change in order to feel better. In ACT-based sessions, clients will learn mindfulness strategies to increase awareness of the present and gain insight into the values that guide their behavior patterns.
